Marking his more than 10 years in the game, ‘Horizons’ showcases the spectrum of June’s slick analogue hardware skills across the tempo gauge. ‘JW’ opens up with whirring, effortless Italo disco mechanics, and ‘Reverie’ slips into 100bpm drug chug mode gilded with eye-fluterign arps. ‘Infinity Room’ creeps into a darker, New Beat adjacent mode replete with monk chants, complemented by the slow darkroom canter of ‘New Horizons’, before he tests out floating slow/fast suspension systems in ‘Uncharted Territories’, and a straight up haughty EBM charge ‘Psychic Process’ that gets us gagging to mince under the strobes again.
