Innershades - Toxic Trax EP - Stay Underground, It Pays

BELGIAN GOODNESS! Rawness is of utmost importance on this latest transmission from the French imprint Stay Underground It Pays. With previous appearances including Creme Organization, you know that Innershades buys into this philosophy, and that's certainly evident on this no-nonsense collection of raw club tracks. "Dexter (87 Mix)" is all about tough jacking drums and old-skool rave stabs while "Lust" reaches for more of that early Detroit spirituality. "Work That" brings it back to a darker kind of techno concern, but still rooted in the early 90s mentality, and "Circuit" lets a little ghetto house flavour into the revivalist proceedings. After all, the A side is called the "Twilight Side" and the flip the "Ghetto Side", so it's no surprise there's some rude and raunchy club smashers to be found here.
