H. Brunner - Awakening - KMS068

Originally released in 2000, this little-known KMS release was a high-point for V-Max label boss Heath Brunner, and it's not hard to see why his work would have appealed to Saunderson. Both tracks are faithful interpretations of the Detroit blueprint, firing off machines in entangled rhythmic configurations with plenty of soul woven into the circuitry. "Senses" is the softer of the two, keeping the drums peppy but forward thrusting while charming fluttering synth lines inject the heart into the track. "Spring" on the other hand is a feisty number that jerks and jives with snagged beats and wriggling acid lines atop a bed of harmonious pads. If you like your techno old-skool then hit this up immediately.
