Perennial East German oddball outpost Freude Am Tanzen can always be counted on to inject some colour and imagination into the house and techno world, and so it is on this new compilation. Metaboman in particular impresses alongside Large M with the uptempo, swinging freak-fest "G&B", while Monkey Maffia manages to come over both big room and loungey in equal measure on "Gladis". Mathias Kaden brings his more focused club style to bear on "Freakinme", and Douglas Greed works some coldwave synth touches into a playful romp entitled "Springtime In December". Whichever side you reach for, the ideas come on fresh and invigorating which is all too valuable these days.
