Cold Colors - Dans Le Vide EP - Lux

Zurich label Lux Rec continue to tread their own path, forgoing the techno focus of recent releases in favour of another field, namely Cold Electronics, New Wave movement, and French musical existentialism from Bordeaux based musician Cold Colors. Whilst the aforementioned styles of cold wave and new wave are present as influences in Frederick Barbe's work as Cold Colors, they are in no way pronounced or overstated. Instead of pastiche, Barbe expresses these influences through his own modern musical methods with the crisp and punch of delivery tending to heighten the sense of solitude and melodic longing that's very apparent in the four tracks here.
