What more can be said about the legend that is Lee 'Scratch' Perry! He has been recording and producing music from the '60s, 70's, 80's,90's and beyond in some cases even from outer space! Here we see Lee Perry and Mad Professor give some classic Perry cuts a dub over. Cuts like "Zion Blood" are re-recorded, re-vamped, and refreshed from the version that appeared on Perry's Classic "Super Ape" LP. "Moving On" is another Dubtastic take on the classic Perry produced Bob Marley cut "Keep On Moving" and "Doctor Shit" sees Lee re-visit an old Ska classic Doctor Dick!
Lee is the ultimate chameleon constantly changing with the times. He has played many roles, from singer, producer to musician and engineer. Some would say Lee Perry's most successful period was through the 1960s and 1970s and this is true but he has never stopped working, constantly touring, making records, and producing when required. "Black Ark Classic Songs" is a true testament to a legend who has worked with 80% of the foundation reggae artists like Max Romeo and Bob Marley. 

In celebration of Lee's 80th birthday. Here we find our hero just as creative as he was in the sixties or seventies. Don't expect concert pitch vocals, even in the seventies, his vocals were more valued and respected for the mystical, spiritual qualities, rather than tuneful qualities.

Spirits Speak is a weird, creepy track that would not be out of place in a horror movie soundtrack! The song features Sicilian Mafia Carlo Amendola and Nicola discussing the Culture Vultures, then joined by Soom T and Lee Scratch Perry.

Is the latest of such adventures. Consisting of 2 parts, the first part is primarily a dub album, with 2 dubby vocal tracks. Lions Share, and Power to Mr. Perry.

The rest of the tracks are all classics from Lee's legendary Black Ark Studio, this time re-recorded paying respects to the dynamics and rootical feel of the Black Ark productions.
