Ozel AB - Crimes EP - Lobster Theremin
There's no doubt that Lobster Theremin was one of the runaway success stories of 2014, with each of their releases - which veered between dusty, otherworldly deep house and raw techno via creepy ambience - being nigh on essential. This first 12" of 2015 comes from London newcomer Ozel AB, who the label aptly describes as a "hazologist" and "day-dreamer". There's certainly something sleepy - despite the hypnotic, club-friendly rhythms and gently throbbing sub - about opener "Sidestep To Your Left", while follow-up "Digital Natives" seemingly shimmers thanks to yearning chords, shuffling rhythms and raw electronics. Things get a little creepier on the flip, where "Karim Bey" and "La Busqueda" tiptoe the fine line between dystopian deep house and distorted techno.
