The pointedly deep Astrolife label, run by Nigel Hayes and Vincent Inc, is taking things way, way down with this stunning 12" from John Beltran. It's a varied affair that leads in with the sumptuous, percussive house pattering of Beltran's remix of Hayes and Rachel Berg's 'Take Me To The Sea'. It's the kind of track that will transport you to dreamy, sun-soaked terraces in a flash. Beltran's version of C-Pull's 'Soulmate' is a very different affair - a peppy broken beat groover that wouldn't sound out of place being worked by the likes of Kaidi Thatham or Dego. Then Hayes is back, this time remixing Beltran's 'Summer Storm' and giving it a chunky rhythm section to carry the hazy melodics into peak time.
