Untold - Targa / Flare - 50Weapons

After the success of his Change In A Dynamic Environment series last year, Untold is back in business with this tidy pair of tracks for unstoppable Berlin behemoth 50 Weapons. "Targa" leads the charge with a claustrophobic and yet utterly heart-wrenching techno workout, letting the rhythm pump and suck underneath vaporous gases while the delicate notes and synth strings speak of all the romantic leanings of the most classic Detroit techno. "Glare" uses equally seductive melodic content, although the sinister strings that hover in the background add a dark edge to the broken drum workout, swirling up a maelstrom of mixed emotions with the kind of difficult-to-pin-down verve that makes Untold as essential as ever.
