San Laurentino - Contemplations Of A Castaway - Mystic & Quantum ‎– M&Q002

There's something thrilling about the ludicrously limited nature of this debut album from sometime Mathematics, Live at Robert Johnson and Let's Play House producer San Laurentino. For some unfathomable reason, it's limited to just 180 copies - a ridiculously low amount given its' obvious quality. Laurentino specializes in creating rich, warm, and picturesque tracks full of ear-catching melodies, simple rhythmic arrangements, and heady new age instrumentation. Throw in distinctive analog grooves, near Balearic atmospherics, and occasional deep acid explorations (see the excellent "Car Chase 303") and you have an impressive album that should appeal just as much to electronica loving home listeners as open-minded DJs. That's assuming they can secure a copy, of course.
