SAN PROPER/OHM HOURANI - Triple X - ANOMA Canada

The good Dr Beat San Proper continues his 2014 production purple patch, teaming up with Ohm Hourani for the maiden release on the Canadian producer's new label Anoma Records. When it comes to San Proper it's hard to know what to expect, but the two tracks on Triple X find the Amsterdam icon trading in the minimally minded sound that was recently demonstrated on Perlon and Arma releases. Abstract lyrics and no small amount of feline meowing characterise the title track, whose arrangement offers a perfect balance between organic and synthetic elements. "She's Gone" proves to be just as intoxicating, with thickly layered textures and off-key drum arrangements. A fine debut!
